Casting Your Vote

Hybrid Voting

You can register and vote either online or in-person.

Uptown Community Planning Group uses both a secure, online voting system and paper ballots for our annual elections. You may select the option that is right for you.

Prepare to Register

To register online or in-person, you will need to:

  • Identify the Uptown neighborhood where you live, own property, or own/operate a business or non-profit. You can confirm your neighborhood by using the Neighborhood Verification Tool.

  • Provide the appropriate personal identification documents from the Personal Identification Requirements for All Voters list below.

  • Provide a title deed or property tax bill, if you are a non-resident owner.

  • Provide a business tax certificate, if you are a business owner/operator.

  • Provide both a business tax certificate and a founding document, if you are a non-profit owner/operator.

Vote on YOUR schedule

We offer multiple ways to cast your vote.

Online voting will open on 02/05 and close 02/26. You can receive your electronic ballot via SMS or email. Either will contain a link with a system generated key that is unique to you and not known to the election team. Each ballot is unique and can be used only once.

There will be two in-person voting opportunities—02/28 and 03/02. You can register in advance or at the time you vote. At the polling place you can vote with a paper ballot, no need to use electronic system.

FAQ

  • The elections will use both traditional paper ballot voting opportunities and an electronic voting system described above.

  • Each ballot will provide the ability to allow you to vote for candidates vying for the seats you are eligible to vote for:
    - The owner and renter seats for your neighborhood
    - All business and non-profit seats across Uptown
You are not able to vote for resident seats in neighborhoods other than your own.

  • Yes. We will have staff at the polling places to assist with in-person voting. These folks are not running in the election, will remain independent, and will not act for or against any candidate or voter choice.

  • The system allows polling staff to “spoil” a ballot for a voter. This invalidates the original ballot and will re-issue a new one. Election staff and administrators do not have access to the actual ballots.

  • There is a 24-hour challenge period beginning 03/03. UpCPG will retain voter rolls and candidate application data until this period elapses, at which time personal information will be destroyed. At no time will personal information leave the control of UpCPG election staff.
