Kyle Amdahl

Kyle Amdahl is the founder of LOCALiSD, an independent design and brand strategy studio specializing in hospitality, destination, product, and private label development.

For more than 35 years, Kyle has helped organizations build stronger brand identities and visual systems. A recognized leader in these field, he partners with organizations to create meaningful experiences that strengthen, engagement, grown revenue, and deliver lasting value.

Throughout his career, Kyle served as Creative Director for L'Oréal and Sony Electronics, later becoming Head of Advanced Concepts and Design Strategy at Sony Electronics. He also founded the Innovation and Customer Experience Department at the Port of San Diego, leading initiatives that reimagined how design can strengthen the relationship between people and place. His work includes projects for the Comic-Con Museum, the City of San Diego, and organizations across both the public and private sectors.

As Uptown Business Representative and Chair of the Community Engagement Committee, Kyle is focused on expanding how the Uptown Community Planning Group can deliver more value. His work emphasizes stronger public communication, meaningful neighborhood partnerships, and helping the planning group become a trusted resource that connects the community.

Kyle also teaches design as an adjunct professor at the NewSchool of Architecture & Design, where he mentors the next generation to do cool shit.
